Mare Nostrum, swimming

A one of a kind event.
The Mare Nostrum was created following the establishment in 1988 of the international swimming meeting held in Canet, with other major meetings taking place in Barcelona and Monaco. A one of a kind event, the Mare Nostrum hosts three competitions over ten days, and has become one of the finest platforms for international swimming.
The high sporting standards at this event attract a great deal of media coverage for the discipline and the event is broadcast in over 40 countries. The biggest names in swimming have competed at the Mare Nostrum: Ian Thorpe, Mark Spitz, Alexander Popov, Pieter Van Den Hoogenband, Janet Evans and Inge de Bruijn.
